See our channel for a video of the hike itself!!! Also, see our channel for more on the guy balancing his baby on the edge of the summit!

We visited Zion National Park and decided to take on Angels Landing, probably the most precarious but rewarding hike in Northern America. The trail starts easily with lots of switchbacks. The trail is safe and a good challenge for most of the way. Many people turn around or stop and picnic when they reach the toilets a few miles in. The last 0.5 miles of the trail is the dangerous part and the crux of the trail (1 mile total as you have to come back the way you came!). It’s a very narrow ridge that you have to trace for those 0.5miles. Chains are provided on the narrow parts and they are very solid. The rocks can get slippery, as you can see, it was SNOWING when we visited!! I took a video of a guy balancing his baby of the edge of the cliff edge, crazy!!! I have included that here and uploaded it as a separate video! Couldn’t believe it! lol

Angels Landing Trail is a 5 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Springdale, Utah that features a river and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips and is best used from February until October.

Distance: 5.0 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,630 feet
Route Type: Out & Back

Angels Landing is a strenuous trail in Zion National Park with steep drop-offs and very narrow sections – it is also the most popular hike in Zion. Start by parking at The Grotto trailhead, or taking the West Rim Shuttle to The Grotto shuttle stop. Begin by crossing a bridge over the Virgin River, the first 2-miles of the West Rim Trail are a well-maintained, paved trail. Most of the path is sunny, but Refrigerator Canyon offers shade and often a cool breeze.

The trail takes you up Walter’s Wiggles, a set of 21 steep switchbacks that take their name from Walter Ruesch, Zion National Park’s first superintendent. The last half-mile (0.8 km) follows a steep and narrow ridge from Scout Lookout to Angels Landing itself, a fantastic observation point 1500 feet above Zion Canyon. Anchored support chains are attached along some sections of the sheer cliff. You are rewarded with an excellent view of the main canyon at the top.

Avoid standing near the edge at all times! Do not hike the trail when it is wet, storming, or when high winds are present. If you are afraid of heights this trail is not recommended. This is a good early morning hike to check off your bucket list – it will surely be one of you favorite hikes! Make sure to allow time to be off the trail by dark if starting late in the day.

Angels Landing is one of the world’s most renowned hikes and is an unforgettable short adventure hike worthy of all bucket lists. The views of Zion Canyon’s 270 million-year-old rock layers will time travel you back to the Triassic period when this section of the Colorado Plateau was a flat basin at sea level.

Join Eric and his friends as they hike the treacherous Angel’s Landing of Zion National Park. With only two hours of sleep, and a playlist full of Justin Bieber songs, Eric and his crew attempt to ascend Angel’s Landing or the Temple of Aeolus. It’s a 1,488 foot tall rock formation that towers over the entirety of Zion. What makes this hike so dangerous is the final push to the top. With nothing more than a single chain of railings to assist you, and prevent you from falling to your death, this hike remains one of the most dangerous hikes in America claiming the lives of 5 people in the last century. Will Eric and his buddies make to the top of Angel’s Landing, or become another statistic?

These boots proved to be really great hiking boots, that would work well for backpacking as well. We hiked up Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park. We hiked through different type of terrain and the boots performed great. The boots breathed well even though it was waterproof thanks to the Goretex liner.

Sorry I skipped out on posting last week! My parents came into town and my schedule was all over the place, as were we! Can’t wait to share some more adventures with you guys! This trip was so special, because I finally got to hike Angels Landing- a hike that I have been wanting to do for the longest time. Angels Landing is one of the most dangerous hikes in the world with it’s vertical climb and narrow ridge.

Angel’s Landing is located in Zion National Park in Utah. As you can tell from the video, it was quite scary and strenuous! I was scared to death on this hike. There have been 15 deaths since the trail opened. I think it is one of the world’s scariest hikes! It was a big accomplishment just to make it to the top. Once up there, we didn’t stay long. In fact, Chris took off and we got separated on the way down. You can find out what happened on my blog!
