Zion National Park Accommodations, Hotels, Vacation Rentals & Lodging

One of my all-time favorite places to hike- ZION National Park! Normally, navigating waves of tourists and crowded trails is something you just accept hiking in Zion, and for the beauty you get to see, its more than worth it. But after a little searching, a friend and I came across this trail in the Zion Wilderness and took a gamble on an overnight backpacking trip. This trail has 13 pre-established campsites, and a permit for overnight camping is required. We got lucky and got to choose our campsite, and wanting to experience as much of the trail as possible we got the furthest one they had- Number 12. A beautiful trail is an understatement, as this trail followed the creek back into the canyon with towering walls of rock dripping with colors and textures. We had a peaceful night in our spot by the river, enjoyed some great food on the trail, and even found a waterfall to take a plunge in! A truly wonderful adventure, Zion never fails to amaze me! We get wet and sandy as we canyoneer Pine Creek in Zion National Park, Utah. The water was low on our run through the canyon and had it been higher Pine Creek would be a different animal. Getting off rope in the water was easy since we could touch and we never really got cold but for a few minutes after the third rappel. Great trip and beautiful scenery. I will say that it was full of sand and that did complicate a few things, mainly binding up the locking biners on our devices. All things said, Awesome! Thanks for watching!

What an awesome canyon! We hit Spry Canyon right at the end of October for a great day. It hadn’t rained for quite some time so we decided to not bring wetsuits and we were able to dodge all water except for one little section which was about waist deep. Lots of great rappels in Spry. I do believe that this canyon is now one of my favorites!

Taylor Creek Middle Fork Trail – Zion National Park

Taylor Creek Trail is located on the NE portion of Zion National Park. It’s a moderately traveled 2 mile out and back trail that ends in a huge alcove. The hike features two cabins and multiple stream crossings. If you have gone to Zion before, Taylor Creek and the Kolob Canyon area is fairly remote compared to the more popular attractions. It is easy to overlook which is good (lower traffic) and bad (people miss the scenic drive and the canyon itself). If you have spare time and want something different than the ‘standard’ hikes (Angel’s Landing, Canyon Overlook, Emerald Pools, etc.), take a drive up to Kolob Canyon and check out one (or all three) of the Taylor Creek trails.
