The first thing I will say is switch the video quality to the highest size possible. 1440 or 1080p on a mobile device, or definitely 4k on your desktop. It makes all the difference.
Angel’s Landing will be the scariest hike ever if you are afraid of heights. If you are not, then it is a definite bucket list hike. It is so beautiful. It is only about 2.2 miles to the top. The views, the rock stair cases, and the impossibly growing trees are amazing.
The first mile and a half is pretty much paved trail. There are a lot of switchbacks the higher you get. Once at the top of the main trail, you will see the razorback and the beginning of the chain section. It is less than a mile to the top. There are a couple of sections where there is no chain. I tried to show as much of the trail as possible. There are some steeper sections to climb near the top. Definitely use the chains to pull yourself up. Once at the top, there are plenty of areas to rest and take some amazing photos.
If you are planning to take this hike, there are a couple of things you should bring. Gloves will make the climb much easier and will slide along the chain better. Also, bring plenty of water and snacks. There is no water on this trail. There is a bathroom just before the Chain part of the climb. Also, it can get pretty windy near the peak, so a wind breaker or jacket might be useful. Lastly, you should start as early as possible. The chain sections can get pretty busy in the summer time. You will be getting up close and personal with some strangers holding on to that chain.
Take your time, take lots of pictures, and have a great time.

River Walk in the Rain
Zion National Park
Springdale, Utah

Our final day in Zion was spent going on a little walk along the Virgin River in the rain. The clouds hugging the canyon cliffs was beautiful. We hiked out to the start of the Narrows. Hiking the Narrows is 100% on our bucket list, and we hope to complete it next time we’re in Zion!

We then drove up Highway 9 through the Mount Carmel Tunnel, up to Checkerboard Mesa and back, in search of big horn sheep. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any this time, but it was a beautiful drive as we left Zion for our next and final stop of the trip.

Have you ever hiked the Narrows? Let us know down below!

Where we stayed: Holiday Inn Express Springdale (not sponsored, but if Holiday Inn Express wants to sponsor us, we would be 100% down)

This is one of the first trails you will come across when you enter the park. It’s a fun, short trail that will get you some spectacular views. At only .7 miles, and a mere 101 feet of ascent, it’s a great warmup. Best time of day is in the morning hours so the sun lights up the entire overlook.

I finally took a trip out to Zion National Park. It is so amazing. I recorded almost everything. This video is me driving through the park up to the Canyon Overlook trail. The rock formations are so beautiful. Near the end of the video, I drive through the longest tunnel ever. The Mt. Carmel tunnel is 1.1 miles long. I sped the video up 7 times.
I will be posting more of my adventures through the park over the next month. I hiked the Canyon Overlook Trail, Subway Trail, and Angels Landing. I can’t wait to go back and do The Narrows in spring.

March 30, 2019 is when a group of 5 of us descended the famous Subway (Left Fork of North Creek) in Zion National Park.

We started at the trailhead (Wildcat) at around 8:45 (but got stuck in the snow!) There was around 15″ of snow the last week of March. All of that snow was going to be ending up in the canyon eventually…

Let’s take a look inside this uncommon water year and its effect on the canyon…

Multi-camera action going on with our Go Pros! Check it out once we put on our drysuits!

Zion National Park, Utah
We were lucky enough to get a backcountry permit and enjoy two days (and an overnight) in the Zion Wilderness, following the West Rim Trail from Lava Point Campground into Zion Canyon. We stayed at campsite 1 and enjoyed some amazing views!
