Zion National Park Accommodations, Hotels, Vacation Rentals & Lodging

This footage is from a three-day, approximately 28.5-mile backpacking trip in Zion National Park (including accidentally hiking twenty minutes past the open camping area and having to turn back around) June 7-9, 2019. We started on Wildcat Canyon Trail, opted to take the Northgate Peaks Trail (approximately 2.5-3 miles out and back), and finished our hike on the West Rim Trail, eventually hiking past Angel’s Landing down to The Grotto.

It was our fifteen-year-old daughter’s first backpacking trip (and my husband’s and my second). There were some long stretches of uphill hiking on the West Rim Trail, which was tough, but uphill was much preferred to all of the downhill at the end of three days! We weren’t sure we were ever going to make it to the end!!

It was an incredibly beautiful trip, offering open meadows, ponderosa pine forests, grasslands, and high alpine elevation with sweeping canyon views. We would all three happily do it again.
